Frequently asked questions

These are the questions I actually get, with the answers I actually give. If yours isn’t here, write to me and I’ll add it.

About coming here

Is this only for remote workers?

No. I rent September to June to whoever comes: an off-season holiday, a weekend, a race, a training block or remote work. The season matters more than the reason.

How fast is the internet?

Fibre, [COMPLETAR: X Mbps down, X up], measured in the apartment itself. It handles video calls and large uploads with several people online.

Is there a proper desk?

There’s an extendable table in the living room that works as a desk, plus the terrace table on good days. If two of you need separate workstations, the second bedroom can be rearranged.

Can I get an external monitor?

Yes, at no extra cost. Tell me when you book and I’ll have it ready.

Can I work on the terrace?

Yes. It has an awning, a table for four and the wifi reaches it. For much of the year it’s the best spot in the flat.

Is there a coworking space nearby?

Yes — one in Benicàssim itself from around €160 a month, and more options in Castellón, twenty minutes away.

About sport and events

Can I run from the apartment?

Yes. The seafront promenade starts at the door and runs the length of the coast, and the Vía Verde greenway begins nearby: five and a half flat kilometres to Oropesa.

What about cycling?

This is cyclists’ country. The coast is flat and the Desierto de las Palmas climbs sit right behind the town, topping out at Mount Bartolo, 729 metres.

Can I bring a bike or kit?

[COMPLETAR: sí, hay sitio en X / plaza de aparcamiento / consúltame]. Tell me when you book and we’ll sort it out.

Which races are nearby?

The Benicàssim Half Marathon and 10K is run in April; the Castellón marathon and the Benicàssim triathlon fill out the calendar. Castellón is twenty minutes away.

Can I sail or do watersports outside summer?

Yes. Benicàssim has a sailing school, and the sea is usable all year in a wetsuit.

What if I’m coming for the Magdalena?

Castellón’s festival runs for nine days in March. You’re twenty minutes away, with a train, and you sleep away from the noise.

About the apartment

How many people does it sleep?

Four. A 150 × 200 cm double, two 90 × 190 cm singles, and a sofa bed in the living room.

How is it heated and cooled?

Ceiling fans in every room, natural cross-ventilation and awnings on the terrace, plus a portable electric heater for cold days. There’s no air conditioning or central heating: from September to June, when I rent, it isn’t usually needed. Winter here is mild — January averages 9 °C with highs of 13-14 °C.

Is the pool always open?

No. The communal pool is open 15 May to 15 October and closed the rest of the year.

Is there a washing machine?

Yes, in the bathroom. On a stay of several weeks it stops being a detail.

Is the kitchen well equipped?

Yes: fridge, freezer, ceramic hob, oven, toaster, coffee maker, kettle and a full set of utensils.

Which floor is it on? Is there a lift?

Second floor, and the building has two lifts.

Are towels and bed linen included?

Yes, always.

Is there parking?

Yes, a private space is included. Street parking is also free.

About booking

Which dates do you rent?

September to June. It isn’t available in July or August.

What’s the minimum stay?

[COMPLETAR: mínimo de noches]. From 11 nights the season rate applies, which is cheaper per night.

How much does it cost?

It depends on the dates and the length of stay. Write to me and I’ll give you a fixed price within 24-48 hours, with no variable pricing.

How do I pay?

[COMPLETAR: bank transfer / deposit + balance. Say what’s paid on booking and when the rest is due.]

Can I cancel?

[COMPLETAR: resume tu política en dos líneas, traducida.]

Why aren’t you on Airbnb or Booking?

Because I prefer dealing directly. No service fee, I answer personally, and I can adapt things a platform wouldn’t let me adapt.

About arriving and staying

Do you need our ID details?

Yes — Spanish law requires it for every guest, including children. I send a link a few days before arrival and it takes five minutes.

Who gives me the keys?

[COMPLETAR: en persona / caja de seguridad / persona de contacto.]

Are pets allowed?

[COMPLETAR: sí / no / a consultar.]

Can I smoke?

[COMPLETAR: normalmente «Not inside the apartment; on the terrace, yes».]

Can I get there without a car?

Yes. Benicàssim has a railway station served by the València commuter line and by medium- and long-distance trains, and the apartment is close by from the town.

What’s open off-season?

Supermarkets, pharmacies, the health centre, the library and many restaurants open all year. What closes are the beach bars and the private communal pools.
